On Friday, April 2nd, 6:00-9:00pm, Dhyana Yoga will host the Neighborhood Bike Works (NBW) First Friday Fundraiser at 68 N. 2nd St (near Arch).
The event will feature a “Yoga for Cyclists” class at 8:15pm ($5 suggested donation) taught by Trevor Dye, graduate of Dhyana Yoga’s teacher training. There will also be free refreshments and snacks, an information booth with NBW staff members, and a yoga and bike-themed raffle. Prizes include gift certificates for individual yoga instruction, a bike repair class, and bicycle-themed artwork. All proceeds will go to NBW’s mission of increasing opportunities for youth through bicycling.

Details

The fee for the 2-week camp session is $450 per child; scholarships are available. The fee includes breakfast and lunch every day at camp, as well as a bicycle, helmet, and bike lock for each camper to keep.

Biking is good for us, good for the Earth, and plain fun

Inside the Academy of Natural Sciences, weighty topics were being hashed out - the design of cities, how we get around them, and how they make us feel.

Outside, David Bevacqua and Sean Betts were parking bikes. A lot of them.

In their free “valet” bike-parking area, a project of the Neighborhood Bike Works, about 50 sets of wheels were propped in racks.

Tutors will meet students after the Earn-a-Bike class at our 40th St shop. The students range in age from 8 to 16 (mostly 10-12).  Tutors would help students with their homework and other academic worksheets.  The tutoring focuses on aiding academic progress for students enrolled in our Earn-A-Bike Program. The program is fun, educational, and valuable to the children who take part in it.
