Thanks to the REI - Conshohocken store and Charles Kline, REI Outreach Specialist-Conshohocken, for hosting riders from the Norristown and Philadelphia Neighborhood Bike Works this past Sunday, August 22nd.

REI staff provided a comprehensive tour of the REI bike shop, store floor, and gave useful insight into the skills REI requires in potential employees and their bike mechanics specifically. The satisfying breakfast they provided put a cherry on the top of a fruitful morning.

This was another successful event in our productive relationship with REI.

Volunteers Needed at the Philly Gran Fondo and Expo

By Olivia, July 27, 2010 5:17 pm

Gran Fondo” means “Big Ride” in Italian. Gran Fondos are long distance, mass-participation cycling events – not races – that have become immensely popular in Italy. Participation is open to recreational and competitive amateur cyclists, and tens of thousands of riders of all abilities participate.

A Gran Fondo is coming to Philadelphia on August 8th and NBW will be offering free valet bicycle parking at the expo after the ride. The expo and bike corral will be located near Memorial Hall. Youth workers will be parking the bikes but extra hands are needed at the ride and expo. Click here to see a full list of volunteer opportunities. The ride will begin at 7am and the first riders should be back by 9am. Bike parking will open at 9am and close at 5:30pm. The expo will begin around 10:30am.

To learn more about this exciting event, visit the Philly Gran Fondo website.
