The March Adult Bike Repair Class starts on Monday, March 8, and will meet for 4 Monday evenings from 6:30-9:00pm (March 8, 15, 22 and 29). Lessons typically include going over parts of the bike and bike fit, care and feeding of your brakes and shifting, and an introduction to overhauling bearings. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bikes. The fee for the class is $60. We are also offering a Build A Fixed Gear Class in October. This is a fixed-gear/single-speed conversion workshop for all abilities; it will meet Sunday afternoons from 3:30-6:00pm on Oct 4, 11 and 18. Bring any bike with horizontal dropouts and we provide all the tools and parts for a basic conversion. The fee for the class is $100, which includes parts. (Extra upgrades and bike frames also available if you don’t have a bike.) All bikes need to be worked on, but you can do so at the Divine Bike Church, an adult bike co-op where volunteer facilitators help you work on your bike to get into riding condition! Our shop is at 3916 Locust Walk in the basement of St. Mary’s Church. Hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays 6:30-9pm and Saturdays 3-6pm. Wednesdays are open to woman and trans people only.
We will also be selling Neighborhood Bike Works T-shirts, tire levers, new Cane Creek wheel sets, and other random parts.

The August Adult Bicycle repair class starts Monday, and will meet from 6:30-9pm on August 3, 10, 17 & 24, at our 3916 Locust Walk location (see here for directions). Learn how to build your dream wheel! You can bring your own rims and hubs, or order new parts through us from a wide range of sizes, styles and prices. Learn the basic theory of wheel-building, including how to measure components, calculate correct spoke length, proper spoke lacing, as well as truing and tensioning wheels. Mild to intermediate repair experience is suggested, but not required! The fee for the class is $75 plus the cost of any new parts you may order.
The class will meet Sunday early afternoon from 12:00-3:00pm on August 2, August 9, August 16, and August 23 (with an optional extra class on August 30th) in our shop at 3916 Locust Walk.
