In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Neighborhood Bike Works will celebrate MLK Day 2010 as an opportunity to work hard, make change and bring people together. This will be an all-day event held on Monday, January 18th, 2010 at our our three shops: 40th Street, Haddington and North Philadelphia/Temple.
Each year, Neighborhood Bike Works holds a Service Party on MLK Day to fix-up and organize its offices and bike shops while also reflecting on what the day stands for. This year, we are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of this event at the 40th Street Headquarters.
The Bicycle Club of Philadelphia and
REI are generously sponsoring the event. At 12:30PM at 40th st, REI will present Neighborhood Bike Works with a grant to support our Mountain Bike Club and Earn-a-Bike program.
Volunteers can sign up for one or both time slots:
10:00 am – 1:00 pm and/or 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Breakfast and lunch will be provided!
The time you’ll be spending with us on that day will be dedicated to overhauling our shops (multiple, fun, projects including painting signs, construction, sorting parts, and cleaning). To register for the event or to find out more, send an email to volunteers@neighborhoodbikeworks.org. Please include your full name, a telephone number where you can be reached and preference of time and place in the email. If you are registering more than one person please include this information for all of the individuals as well as their ages.
I’d like to volunteer tomorrow, Dr.King Day at 4oth St. 10am-1pm.
